Katarina Emeršič Polić graduated at the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana in 2014 with the thesis »Argument of human dignity in Slovene (constitutional) jurisprudence« under the mentorship of akad. prof. dr. Marijan Pavčnik. In 2016, she completed postgraduate studies with honors at the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana defending her master thesis »The right to water in international law« under the mentorship of prof. dr. Vasilka Sancin. In 2015 and 2016, Katarina also received three awards and commendations for her outstanding achievements in extracurricular activities awarded only to the best students by the Senate of the Faculty of Law.

During her studies she spent a winter semester in the 4th year at the University of Paris Ouest Nanterre La Defense. Katarina was a member of the Faculty of Law’s team at the international competition Concours européen des droits de l’homme René Cassin held entirely in French, at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. She was also a member of the team at the World Human Rights Moot Court Competition, which was carried out in English and French at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva. Both teams were in the semifinals of the competitions. Last but not least, she also received two awards at the competition Model United Nations, which was held at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN in Rome. In 2020 and 2021, Katarina mentored a group of students from the Faculty of Law, who excelled at the above mentioned international competition Concours européen des droits de l'homme René Cassin. In 2022, she was a judge at the Helga Pedersen International Moot Court Competition (formerly known as the European Human Rights Moot Court Competition).

In 2015, Katarina was working as a legal adviser at the EU delegation to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg and was among other things responsible for reporting on developments in the committees of legal experts and issued judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. In 2016, she was a legal adviser at the international organization Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean in Malta. During this time she also participated in the LGBT legal counseling office, where she advised LGBT persons and provided them with information on their legal status and legal channels to assert their rights. In November 2016, Katarina joined the Law Firm Pirc Musar & Partners. In January 2021, she was admitted to the Slovenian bar as an attorney at law. As of May 2021, Katarina is a member of the delegation of the Slovenian Bar Association to the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE). In October 2022, she successfully completed her training as a mediator. In December 2022, Katarina became a partner in the Law Firm. In March 2023, she was appointed as the only expert from Slovenia to the CCBE Young Lawyers Committee. In August 2023, Katarina was listed as a mediator at the Mediation Centre. In March 2024, she was elected to the Board of the Bar Association and was included in the list of mediators at the Ljubljana District Court.

Katarina is fluent in English, French, Italian and Spanish.
